It is currently believed that our sun formed from a giant molecular cloud about 4.6 billion years ago, and there is no evidence to suggest that there was a predecessor sun or great-grandmother sun in the same space before our sun. The formation of stars is a complex process that involves the collapse of a cloud of gas and dust, and it is unlikely that another star would have formed in the same space before our sun. However, there may have been other stars in the vicinity of our sun's formation that have since moved away. **
